Take your guests anywhere - Virtually
Nortel Networks is a company that is always on the cutting edge. So is Congress Canada. The challenge was to create a “wow”
event - something their 2,700 guests had never seen before. Absent were the traditional props and banners. Instead, the room was
decorated in state of the art “virtual décor” projected onto the perimeter walls. The technology, called “MegaProjection” has the
effect of moving guests from one scenic location to another without ever having to leave their seats.
Two very different “realities” were created. The first was a moving collage of scenes of the host city - Montreal. Throughout the
dinner, guests were taken on a virtual city tour, showing the highlights, the views, the festivals, and the great institutions.
The second “reality” tied in with Nortel Network’s current advertising campaign using the Beatles’ song “Come Together….Right Now”.
Sketches of faces from around the world were projected on to the perimeter walls, and slowly advanced around the room. To represent the
differences … coming together, colour was gradually added - bright colours - bold yellows, reds, purples, greens, until all the faces
were washed in colour. It still sends chills up our spines!
As if that wasn’t enough - the evening was topped off with a concert by Three Dog Night. They sang their favourites, and then sang -
you guessed it “Come Together”!
